FAQ's for Lasik Surgery

Patients may experience some discomfort and/or blurred vision for a few hours after laser eye surgery. In addition, most patients receive a sedative prior to vision correction surgery. Therefore, you cannot drive home after undergoing the LASIK procedure and you should plan not to drive for at least 24 hours.

A LASIK surgery procedure is designed to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contacts. An excimer laser gently reshapes the cornea with computer-controlled precision to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. To be considered a candidate, you must be at least 18 years old, have healthy eyes and a stable eye prescription for the last twelve months.

One of our highly skilled doctors will perform the surgery. Although the Wake Forest Baptist Health Eye Center is a teaching facility with residents and medical students, we do not teach residents or students LASIK.
